St. Michael’s Church North Waltham

Acts of Remembrance 2020

Sunday 8th November at 10.45am we will have a short service outside the church.  Social Distancing must be maintained and face coverings worn.  We will be encouraging everyone to stand in family ‘bubbles’ preferably on the church side of the pathway and to take care around the gravestones.  We will observe two minutes silence at 11am and wreaths will be laid.  This service will be led by Rev. Amy Roche, Curate from Overton.

Wednesday 11th November at 10.50am a small group will be at the War Memorial for prayer and to observe the national two minute silence.  Anyone is welcome again observing the Social Distancing rules.

Stand on your Doorsteps as a mark of respect –Not everyone will want to venture out to Acts of Remembrance this year and this is fully understood.  The British Legion is encouraging people to stand outside their houses to observe the two minutes silence at 11am on either 8th or 11th or even both.

You can also download pictures of poppies to display in your windows either already coloured or to colour yourselves from the British Legion web-site.  This year they have been unable to offer paper Poppies in the same way as other years although we understand some may be available in Supermarkets.  Whilst they do ask for donations this is not essential to download the pictures

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
